POST-DOCTORAL FELLOW POSITION (Computer Science), Computational Medicine Center: Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University (TJU), is now accepting applications for full-time employed postdoctoral student positions for the Computational Medicine Center at TJU. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in one of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in the field of bioinformatics in particular, and computational biology in general, and in the application of machine learning/data mining techniques in the biomedical context. A strong publication record is a must. Required skills include: working knowledge of C/C++, Java, Perl, etc.; working knowledge of technical computing packages such as Matlab, R, etc.; and, working knowledge of the Windows and Linux/*nix operating systems. Familiarity with existing tools for pattern discovery/data mining, data visualization and data analysis is a plus. Responsibilities will include research in the development of algorithms for the analysis of biological and medical data and the application of such algorithms to the elucidation of the mechanisms underlying the onset and progression of disease; also, assistance in the development of needed computational infrastructure for carrying out planned research activities.
