FACULTY POSITION (Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering), Computational Medicine Center: Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University (TJU), is now accepting applications for full-time employed research faculty positions for the Computational Medicine Center at TJU. The position can be at the Instructor level, Research Assistant Professor level or Research Associate Professor level depending on qualifications and is non-tenure track. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in one of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in the field of bioinformatics in particular, and computational biology in general, and in the application of machine learning/data mining techniques in the biomedical context. A strong publication record is a must. Required computer programming skills include working experience with C/C++, Java, Perl, etc as well as with technical computing packages such as Matlab, R, etc., and knowledge of the Windows and Linux/*nix operating systems. Familiarity with existing tools for pattern discovery/data mining, data visualization and data analysis is a plus. Working experience in software engineering is a plus. Working experience in high performance computing is a plus. Responsibilities will include research in the development of algorithms for the analysis of biological and medical data and the application of such algorithms to the elucidation of the mechanisms underlying the onset and progression of disease, supervision of graduate students or postdoctoral fellows, assistance in grant application preparation, etc.
