Job opening: Research Faculty (PhD in one of: Molecular Biology/Biochemistry)

FACULTY POSITION (Molecular Biology/Biochemistry), Computational Medicine Center: Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University (TJU), is now accepting applications for full-time employed research faculty positions in the Computational Medicine Center at TJU. The position can be at the Instructor level, Research Assistant Professor level or Research Associate Professor level depending on qualifications and is non-tenure track. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or equivalent. Familiarity with the field of non-coding RNAs and RNA interference and working experience in this area is a must. A strong publication record is a must. The ideal candidate should have working experience with laboratory techniques such as DNA purification, RNA extraction, Northern/Southern/Western blotting, transfection/transduction, RNAi/miRNA, siRNA design, PCR, RT-PCR, RACE, vector construction, site-directed mutagenesis, etc. Familiarity with technical computing packages such as Matlab, R, etc. and with tools for data visualization, analysis and mining is a plus. Responsibilities will include research in the field of non-coding RNAs with a focus on the elucidation of the mechanisms underlying the onset and progression of disease, supervision of graduate students or postdoctoral students, assistance in grant application preparation, etc.
